Polish Security Services Hold Emergency Meeting Following Serious Threats to Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz

On Sunday, Polish security services held an urgent meeting following reports of a potential attack on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. Jacek Dobrzynski, a spokesperson for the special services, indicated that the threat is being taken very seriously, with a high probability of it being executed.

The Interior Ministry confirmed that an email detailing the threat was sent to police by the State Protection Service, which oversees the security of ministers. Although violent crime is not common in Poland, the country is experiencing significant political polarization and security concerns, particularly due to its geographical proximity to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

This situation is compounded by previous incidents, such as the arrest of a 23-year-old man in August for allegedly calling for the assassination of senior politicians and threats received by Tusk following an assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The current threat underscores the volatile political climate in Poland and raises concerns about the safety of its leaders
