Pilot Killed in Houthi Attacks on Riyadh Airport; Saudi Coalition Promises Firm Response

On Thursday, Houthi militants launched two attacks on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, resulting in the deaths of three Saudi nationals, including Captain Hamoud Ali Alkalthami of Saudi carrier Saudia. The Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that the first attack targeted airport facilities, while the second aimed at a Saudia aircraft.

Following the attacks, hundreds of flights were canceled, although operations returned to normal by Friday. The Saudi-led coalition vowed a strong response to the Houthis, confirming the destruction of missile launchers used in the attacks.

This incident is part of a broader escalation in hostilities, with the Houthis increasing their operations against Riyadh amid ongoing regional tensions, including the U.S.-Iran conflict. In related developments, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that military action against Iran would be postponed until after the midterm elections, which has contributed to fluctuations in oil prices.
