OPEC+ has finalized a production quota increase of about 188,000 barrels per day, concluding the phased rollback of a 1.65 million bpd cut that was initially agreed upon in 2023. This adjustment comes as the group faces challenges from export disruptions linked to the Iran and Ukraine conflicts, which have limited the effectiveness of previous production hikes.
Analysts, including Jorge Leon from Rystad, suggest that while the group has completed its restoration of output levels, it may pause further increases in the fourth quarter to manage potential surpluses as export flows stabilize.
Oil prices have recently seen fluctuations, with West Texas Intermediate futures rising to $84.67 per barrel and Brent crude settling at $90.12, despite a weekly decline of over 5%. Additionally, OPEC+ is preparing for future negotiations regarding production quotas for 2027, as some members advocate for higher individual quotas based on their production capacities.
