Analysts Wells Fargo raised Meta Platforms (META) target price to $796 following the successful launch of Muse AI agent

Meta's Muse app has quickly risen to the top of Apple's App Store, resulting in an 11% surge in Meta's stock price to $741.25, marking the largest single-day gain since April 2025. This increase is attributed to institutional investors repositioning their holdings, as the stock has gained over 20% since Muse's launch on September 8.

Muse is designed to simplify AI interactions for casual users, offering functionalities like travel booking and insurance comparisons, and is available through various platforms including WhatsApp. CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized that Muse could generate revenue by taking a small cut from transactions, positioning it as a tool for small businesses that already utilize Meta's advertising systems.

Analysts are responding positively, with Wells Fargo raising its price target for Meta from $640 to $796, indicating that the company now has a compelling narrative to support its stock.

Despite being a significant spender on capital expenditures relative to revenue, Meta's recent performance suggests a potential shift in its financial trajectory, particularly as it aims to balance its spending with revenue growth. The company's capital expenditures are projected to peak at 63% of revenue by 2027, but analysts expect free cash flow to recover in the following years.

Overall, while Muse may not immediately reduce capital expenditures, it is anticipated to contribute to revenue growth, which could help Meta regain its status among leading tech companies
