Meta's Muse AI personal agent tool, launched on September 8, has achieved significant success in a short period, amassing 730,000 downloads within five days and surpassing popular apps like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude in the U.S. iOS app store.
This rapid adoption reflects a growing interest in AI-driven personal assistants, with Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon noting that these tools are beginning to appeal to a broader audience. The stock market responded positively, with Meta's shares rising over 11% and Wells Fargo raising its price target to $796.
While the app is free, Meta is also introducing subscription options priced at $20 and $100, aiming to diversify its revenue beyond traditional advertising.
However, the launch comes amid ongoing concerns about AI safety and privacy, as evidenced by Amazon blocking access to the Muse bot due to security risks, although Shopify is collaborating with Meta to integrate Muse into its e-commerce platform. The long-term success of Muse remains uncertain, as past AI applications have seen initial popularity but struggled to maintain momentum
