On Wednesday, Lamborghini unveiled the Urus SE Performante, a new hybrid version of its popular Urus SUV, which is touted as the 'fastest Super SUV in the world.' This model features a more aggressive design and enhanced interior compared to existing versions.

It boasts impressive performance metrics, achieving 0-100 kph in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 312 kph, powered by a combination of a 4-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine and an electric motor, delivering a total of 812 horsepower.

Lamborghini's CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, emphasized the importance of this model, calling it a 'game changer.' The Urus has been pivotal for Lamborghini, contributing to approximately 50% of its global sales, with nearly 11,000 vehicles sold last year. The company has shifted its focus from fully electric vehicles to hybrids, citing a lack of acceptance among its customer base for EVs.

This decision comes as Lamborghini canceled its EV plans shortly before Ferrari launched its first all-electric model, the Luce, which faced significant backlash. Winkelmann noted that while innovation is crucial, it should align with market demand, leading to the pivot towards plug-in hybrids instead of fully electric options
