The IPO of India's National Stock Exchange (NSE) has generated significant interest, with bids exceeding $10 billion for the 88.64 million shares offered, reflecting a 5.7 times oversubscription.

This demand is largely driven by institutional and high-net-worth investors, and follows a successful anchor investment round that raised $704 million from notable entities including the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.

The NSE's valuation, pegged at a price-to-earnings ratio of 42.9, is notably higher than that of U.S. exchanges like Nasdaq, which trades at around 23.6 times. This high valuation is justified by the NSE's dominant market position, controlling 93% of India's cash market and nearly all equity futures trading.

Analysts from Geojit Financial Services have pointed to the NSE's asset-light business model and the increasing financialization of Indian households as key factors supporting its long-term growth potential.

The growing equity investments among Indian households, which have risen from 2% to 15.2% of financial savings over the past decade, further underscores the NSE's strategic importance in the evolving financial landscape of India
