Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) is finally attracting significant interest from global asset management firms after more than a decade since its inception.

Factors such as a strong domestic demand for international investment opportunities, relaxed regulations on foreign currency use, and enhanced tax incentives have made GIFT City an appealing destination for both international investors and Indian residents seeking global wealth solutions.

Notably, Standard Chartered plans to launch its Signature CIO funds from GIFT City, while BlackRock, in partnership with Jio Financial Services, is set to introduce global ETFs. The number of fund management entities in GIFT City has risen to 217 as of May 2026, reflecting growing activity.

However, experts caution that GIFT City still has a long way to go to compete with established financial centers like Singapore and Dubai, emphasizing the need for time to develop its reputation and infrastructure.

The potential for GIFT City to become a key global financial center by 2030 is supported by the entry of major players like BlackRock, indicating a positive outlook for the region's financial landscape
