Hyundai Motor has unveiled the Genesis GV90, its latest luxury electric vehicle, which is set to enhance the brand's presence in the U.S. market. This large SUV, capable of seating up to seven, represents a new design direction for Genesis and expands its lineup to seven vehicles.
The GV90 is positioned to compete with established models such as the Cadillac Vistiq and Escalade IQ, as well as the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and Rivian R1S. Hyundai CEO José Muñoz emphasized the significance of this launch, stating it opens a new chapter for Genesis in luxury mobility.
Production will take place at a new facility in Ulsan, South Korea, with sales expected to begin in the U.S. early next year. While pricing details are yet to be announced, the GV90 will be available in two variants, including a unique Neolun model featuring coach doors, which enhance accessibility but pose engineering challenges for safety compliance.
The GV90 boasts a high-performance electric motor system with up to 660 horsepower and an estimated range of 310 miles. Despite a slowdown in U.S. EV sales attributed to the end of federal incentives, Genesis has reported a 5% increase in sales for the first half of the year, continuing a trend of 22 consecutive months of growth
