General Motors to Introduce Advanced In-Vehicle AI System Later This Year

General Motors (GM) is planning to launch a new AI assistant that aims to provide a more personalized and integrated experience for vehicle owners. According to Anna Santos, GM's director of product management for voice and AI/machine learning, this new assistant will build on the capabilities of the existing Gemini AI assistant developed in collaboration with Google.

The upcoming AI system is expected to better understand vehicle dynamics and customer needs, making vehicle ownership more convenient. While the Gemini assistant allows for natural conversation and basic vehicle control, the new GM AI will offer advanced features such as predictive maintenance and tailored settings for families.

Santos emphasized that this initiative marks the beginning of a broader AI strategy for GM, focusing on proprietary data to enhance the assistant's functionality. This development is significant as it positions GM to compete more effectively in the evolving automotive technology landscape, potentially attracting tech-savvy consumers and improving customer satisfaction
