Florida’s Palm Beach Airport Officially Renamed to President Donald J. Trump International Airport

07/09/2026, 11:36 AM announcement

The airport in West Palm Beach, Florida, has officially changed its name to President Donald J. Trump International Airport, becoming the first airport to be named after a sitting U.S. president. This renaming, effective Thursday, follows a bill signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The airport's FAA locational identifier will change from PBI to DJT, with major airlines like United and Delta already updating their booking systems to reflect the new code. The transition is estimated to cost $5.5 million, with half of the funding coming from the state of Florida.

The airport management has acknowledged that the name change may be received differently by passengers but emphasizes its commitment to providing a safe and welcoming experience.

The airport's proximity to Trump's Mar-a-Lago club and the involvement of his son, Eric Trump, who noted that Trump Force One would be the first plane to land at the renamed airport, highlight the personal significance of this change for the Trump family. This development could influence local tourism and travel patterns, as the airport becomes more closely associated with the Trump brand
