Chipotle Mexican Grill Raises Same-Store Sales Growth Forecast Following Strong Quarterly Earnings

On July 29, 2026, Chipotle Mexican Grill announced an increase in its same-store sales growth forecast, projecting a low single-digit percentage increase for the year, up from a previous expectation of flat sales.

This revision follows the company's strong quarterly performance, where it reported earnings per share of 33 cents, slightly above the 32 cents anticipated by analysts, and revenue of $3.35 billion, surpassing the expected $3.33 billion. The company experienced a 2.2% rise in same-store sales, attributed to a 1% increase in customer traffic and a 1.2% rise in average check size.

Despite a year-over-year decline in net income to $403.5 million, Chipotle's stock rose approximately 6% in after-hours trading, reflecting investor optimism. CEO Scott Boatwright highlighted the company's focus on menu innovation, customer engagement through Chipotle Rewards, and improved hospitality as key drivers of this growth.

Additionally, Chipotle opened 100 new locations during the quarter, further expanding its market presence
