Bentley Motors has officially launched the Torcal, marking a significant milestone as the brand's first fully electric vehicle in its 107-year history. This new model is positioned as an entry-level offering for Bentley, with a starting price of £173,000 (around $229,000), which is considerably lower than Ferrari's Luce, priced at approximately $626,000.
The Torcal boasts an impressive range of up to 600 kilometers and accelerates to 60 miles per hour in under three seconds. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Bentley's chairman and CEO, expressed optimism about the positive reception from wealthy buyers, indicating a growing acceptance of electric vehicles among this demographic.
He noted that the development cycle for such vehicles is lengthy, making it challenging to react quickly to competitors' launches.
While some luxury sports car manufacturers like Porsche and Lamborghini have reduced their EV plans due to weak demand, Bentley remains confident in the market's potential, focusing on delivering a product that embodies the brand's luxury ethos while embracing electric technology
