Boeing's CEO Kelly Ortberg announced the opening of a new 737 Max final assembly line in Everett, Washington, which will begin operations on July 6. This new line is crucial for Boeing's strategy to ramp up production from the current rate of 47 jets per month to 52 jets by next year.
The company has faced production limitations imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) due to safety concerns following an incident involving an Alaska Airlines plane earlier this year. Ortberg emphasized that Boeing is focused on stabilizing its production system before increasing output, which reflects a shift in their operational strategy.
The long-term goal for production is set at 63 jets per month, contingent on supply chain capabilities. The new line will initially produce the 737 Max 10, which is expected to receive FAA certification by the end of the year, paving the way for its first deliveries.
This development is significant as it indicates Boeing's efforts to recover from past setbacks and meet growing demand in the aviation market
