Donald Trump’s Physician Declares President in 'Excellent Health' Following Comprehensive Medical Exam

05/30/2026, 05:32 AM politics announcement

Dr. Sean Barbabella, Trump's physician, reported that the president is 'fully fit' to serve after a comprehensive medical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The evaluation included a CT scan, heart imaging, and cancer screenings conducted by 22 specialists.

At 79 years old, Trump weighs 238 pounds, which is an increase of 14 pounds since April 2025, resulting in a body mass index of 29.7, just shy of the obesity threshold. Despite this, his cognitive and physical performance were deemed excellent, with a perfect score on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment.

The report noted some minor health issues, such as slight lower leg swelling and bruising attributed to handshaking, but overall, his cardiac and pulmonary health were strong. Trump's cholesterol levels have improved significantly, with total cholesterol now at 143, down from 223 in 2018.

This medical disclosure comes as Trump seeks to project strength ahead of the midterm elections, amid ongoing public scrutiny regarding his age and fitness for office. While past administrations have released health information, there is no legal requirement for full disclosure, leading to skepticism about the transparency of such reports.

As Trump approaches his 80th birthday, his health status could play a critical role in shaping voter sentiment and his political future
